Dr. Greenberg specializes in the languages and cultures of Slavic-speaking Europe with a focus on dialectology, sociolinguistics, and historical linguistics. He has served as a longtime chair of the Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures. As a sideline he plays lute and classical guitar and has studied authentic literature and performance of Russian seven-string guitar with the pioneer in the revival of the Russian guitar tradition, musicologist Dr. Oleg Timofeyev.
