(Ph.D., University of Maryland) Dr. Guthrie's research and teaching focuses on human resource (HR) policies and practices and their relationship to organizational excellence. He has studied the effects of HR practices on individual and organizational outcomes running the gamut from employee absenteeism to patient death rates in hospitals. Studying organizations in the U.K., Ireland, New Zealand, Spain, China and the U.S., he has published or presented over 100 papers on these topics, many appearing in the top journals and conferences in his field.
