(Ph.D., University of Southern California) Dr. Hodges Persley's research broadly explores the impact of racial and ethnic identity on performance practices in theatre and film. Her current book project entitled "Remixing Race and Ethnicity: Sampling Blackness in Hip-hop Performance" is an interdisciplinary project investigating the performance practices of Hip-hop Theatre and Performance artists in the United States, England and France. Her research and teaching interests include African American Theatre and Performance; Hip-hop Studies; African Diaspora Theatre; Solo Performance; Popular Culture; Performance Studies, and Improvisation Theory. As an actress and director, Hodges Persley has professional acting and directing credits in theatre, film and television.
