(Ph.D., University of California-San Diego) Professor Kuhnheim's principal areas of research and teaching are contemporary poetry, cultural studies, and gender studies in Spanish America. Her most recent book, Spanish American Poetry at the End of the 20th Century: Textual Disruptions (2004), examines the variety of cultural roles played by poetry in late 20th century Spanish America. She is currently working on a project that studies poetry and performance in Spanish America from the earlier 20th century until the present day.
