Saralyn Reece Hardy currently serves as the director of the Spencer Museum of Art. She has served on a broad range of boards, advisory committees, and is an active consultant and lecturer. She has been engaged as an advisor to the Getty Leadership Institute, the Bush Foundation, and the Mitchell Foundation, and others, as an advocate for artists and cultural organizations. Her concerns relate to the integration of art in society, the pivotal role and development of cultural leaders, the need for artistic experimentation in community and academic life, and the connection between individual artists and educational institutions. Recent interests relate to exploring the museum as an ecosystem, and the negotiations required in defining the museum as an evolving system while respecting its ongoing responsibilities as an archive of meaning.
